Morning Assembly

The morning assembly is a beautiful tradition at Peace Terrace. Each morning students gather to recite Sura’s, sing nasheeds, honor the accomplishments of their fellow classmates, and make collective dua. A high quality school assembly is one of the most important aspects of a school’s curriculum. Its potential to nurture a positive school ethos that stresses care for the self, others and the pursuit of all forms of excellence should not be underestimated. Our morning assemblies powerfully nurtures the development of intrapersonal intelligence.
Every Monday we recite the school pledge:
I pledge to Love and obey Allah and his Messenger,
To be mindful of Allah wherever I am,
To enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong,
To speak the truth, even if it is against myself,
To love for humanity what I love for myself,
To live my life with excellence at all times,
And never forget to smile because it is Sunnah!
Friday Assembly
The Friday assembly is a especially important one. Students get an opportunity to speak publicly in front of their classmates, they share their own ideas and thoughts, recite Qur’an, and contribute to the culture of the school.
Weekly News Announcement: Our Jr. High students take turns in sharing news from the week with the rest of the school. The share world news, local news, new scientific discoveries, and weather and sports.
Speaker of the Week: The speaker of the week chooses a topic to share with the rest of the school. Students talk about the importance of prayer in our lives, share their insight on keeping good company, and tell us all what it means to think outside the box.
Poetry Recitation: Students select poems in English or Arabic to recite.
Singing: Each month we choose a new nasheed to sing together.
Class Performances: Students perform class presentations for Science, History, and other subjects throughout the year.
Recitation of Sura Al-kahf: It is narrated by Al Baihaqi that the Prophet, peace and blessings upon him was reported to have said, “He who recites Suratul Kahf on the day of Jumuah (Friday), Allah will shine a light for him between the two Fridays” [sahih]
