Athletes

Athletics is an integral part of Peace Terrace Academy’s educational program.  All school activities, curricular and co-curricular, in the classroom and on the playing field, must be congruent with the school’s stated goals and objectives established for the intellectual, physical, social and moral development of our students.  We expect our students to display their sense of Faith, Character, Knowledge, and obligations to their Community under all circumstances.

The Athlete’s Code of Conduct

Show respect for teammates, opponents, officials and coaches.

Respect the integrity and judgment of game officials.

Exhibit fair play, sportsmanship and proper conduct on and off the playing field.

Maintain a high level of safety awareness.

Refrain from the use of profanity, vulgarity and other offensive language and gestures.

Adhere to the established rules and standards of the game to be played.

Respect all equipment and use it safely and appropriately.

Win with character, lose with dignity.

Smile, It's Sunnah!

Soccer

Soccer season starts in the fall and is offered for the first semester of the school year. We are excited to partner with  BRAL (Bamrec Athletic League) to offer the opportunity for our students to participate in a competitive league with other Bay Area Islamic schools.

Students will learn and strengthen various soccer skills such as passing, kicking, shooting, dribbling, and controlling the ball.

Basketball

The long anticipated Basketball season starts in January each year! Athletics programs focus on the student experience: emphasizing commitment, communication, student growth, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition. As we have partnered with BAMREC, we will be competing in the Bamrec League and compete against various Bay Area Islamic Schools.

Focus on refining essential skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, defensive maneuvers and structured games, are designed to enhance both individual abilities and teamwork.

Martial Arts

Karate teaches kids how to be respectful while focusing on defense and discipline. We’ve partnered with Zai Martial Arts who have been teaching children and adults the art of Karate for over 25 years. Their instructors are passionate and highly qualified Sensei who are trained in several different arts such as Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai.

Karate practice strengthens the mind, develops composure, a clearer thought process, deeper insight into one’s mental capabilities, and increases self-confidence.

  • It strengthens the entire body, improves coordination, quickens reflexes, builds stamina and overall health.
  • It values courtesy, integrity, humility, justice, honor, and self-control.
  • Karate can also be described as a martial art, or fighting method, involving a variety of techniques, including blocks, strikes, evasions, throws, and joint manipulations. Karate practice is divided into three aspects: kihon (basics), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring).

The cost of the program varies each year and includes the uniform, coaching staff, and Bamrec fees.
